Notes: The photograph at the right shows the home at 1436 G Street in Napa, California, in
about 1910. The house, one of the first in Napa's Spencer district, was built
by William F. Rumble, probably during the Summer of 1906. William was a tradesman
in the lath and plaster business who had resided with his family in this Napa district
definitely since 1900 — and probably since about 1884.
In 1910 the house was owned free of a mortgage — and William and his son Irvin
both listed their occupation as lather. During the 1920s the City of Napa
changed the house number from 114 to 1436 G Street.
The left-most photo below shows Patrick and John Rumble at the house in about 1910.
Ernie and Patrick Rumble are shown there in the middle photo.
The 8th resident listed below, Earl E. Rumble, was a son of John W. Rumble and one of
the grandsons of William and Sarah.
This was the home to various members of the Rumble family until approximately 1949.
Since then the house has become the Arbor
Guest House, a Napa bed and breadfast inn. |
