Notes: Mary Jane Osborn was born 24 Jul 1836 to Phoebe Osborn, father unknown, in Warren County,
Ohio. She had two younger siblings, Colson and Mahala. In the 1860 U.S. census, Mary Jane Osborn,
24, a house keeper, was living with her mother, Phebe, 50, also a house keeper, in Washington Twp.,
Warren, Ohio. (P.O. Morrow). Her siblings were Colston, 21, a farm hand, and Mahala, 17, a domestic.
In the 1870 U.S. census, Mary Osborn, 36, was living in Bluffton, Harrison Twp., Wells, Indiana. She was working in a milliner school. She was a lodger with James H. Ridgely, 43, a grocer and his wife Dianah Ridgely, 38, a milliner. Also in the residence was Wilbert F. Gavins, 13, in school, and James F. McBride, 23, grocery clerk. On 29 Aug 1872, Mary J. Osborn married Hiram Jackson in Wells County, Indiana. In the 1880 U.S. census, Mary J. Jackson, 43, keeping house, was living with her husband Hiram Jackson, 62, a farmer, in Liberty Twp., Wells, Indiana. Their children were George W., 18, a son from Hiram's first marriage, and Belle C., 3, their daughter. In the 1900 U.S. census, Mary J. Jackson, 63, was living with her husband Hiram, 82, a farmer, in Liberty Twp., Wells, Indiana. Enumerated next was their daughter Cora B. Gerwig, 23, and her husband, Frank H. Gerwig, 29, a farmer. Their children were Hattie A., 4, and Harry A., 1. Mary's husband Hiram Jackson died 4 Aug 1908 and was buried in the McFarren Cemetery. In the 1910 U.S. census, Mary J. Jackson, 73, now a widow was still in Liberty Twp., and was living on the income left by her husband. Mary Jane suffered from Bright's disease and died on 26 May 1916 in Liberty Center, Wells, Indiana.
