Notes: *Euphemia's given name and birth year were different in the five Sources. For example, the 1900 U.S. Census reported her name as Ethwina and her birth year as 1865, the 1910 U.S. Census reported her name as Euphemir and her birth year as 1870, the 1920 U.S. Census reported her name as Euphemia and her birth year as 1872, the 1940 U.S. Census reported her name as Euphenia and her birth year as 1867, and her son's WW2 Draft Registration gave her name as Euphemia. Analysis: Euphemia means to speak well in archaic English; its gender is feminine. Euphenia is a girl's variant of Euphemia. Since the Census reports are secondary sources and the Draft Registration is a primary source, I conclude that Euphemia was her actual and correct given name. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
