Notes:  Conrad graduated from Hilmar Union High School and the Modesto Junior College. Conrad enlisted in the U.S. Army on 3 Feb 1942 at the Presidio of Monterey, California.  At that time he was 5'7" tall and weighed 154 lbs. Conrad was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force on the point system in October 1945 at the Stockton Army Airfield.  He was a sergeant and served 27 months with the Air Transport Command as a ground crewman at Assam, India.  He earned the Asiatic theater ribbon with two battle stars, the Distinguished Unit Citation and Good Conduct Medal during his three and one half years in the Army. Conrad married Freda Lindquist a year later and fathered four sons.  The photo at the above right shows him and his family circa 1958.  He passed on in 1991 at age 76 and was buried in Turlock Memorial Park lot 596 block 23.
