Notes:  James and his wife Mary owned land in West Deer Township (later named Richland Township), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, for several decades.

In the 1850 USA census, James, 40, and Mary, 37, were living in West Deer Township, Allegheny County.  James was a farmer and their real estate was worth $3,000.  Their children were John, 12, Elizabeth, 11, and Matthew 7.  Also in the household was Joseph Fox, 30, a salesman.

When James' brother Joseph and Joseph's wife Mary Ann sold their adjacent 59 acres and 271 perches on 23 Mar 1858, James and Mary, along with three other Williams brothers and their wives, signed the Indenture to Quit Claim their interest in Joseph's land (Source 188).
