Analysis: Hugh and Sarah Nickels appear twice and were double counted in
the Canada 1891 Census! This is because at the time of their marriage in 1885 Hugh Nickels
was a widower with at least five of his children living with him in his residence in Bosanquet
Township, and Sarah [Garrett] Mason was a widow living in her residence in the nearby town of
Forest (as documented in the Forest Marriages record).
Both residences were still in use when the 1891 Census was taken: Hugh and Sarah were
present on 7 Apr 1891 when a census taker arrived at their Bosanquet residence and recorded
their family there, and Hugh and Sarah were also present on 30 Apr 1891 when a different
census taker arrived at their Forest residence and recorded them there. |
