Notes: In the summer of 1860, John & Barbara Reber were enumerated in Douglas County,
Nebraska, with their son John, age 12 years, daughter Rosina, age 8 years, and
probably brother Samuel, age 21 years. Douglas County was the starting point for
the Mormons' trek across the plains to Salt Lake City. It is not certain if
the Reber family were handcart pioneers, or whether they had been supplied with a
wagon and oxen. John was listed as a tinsmith. The census taker spelled
their surname as Rebber. |
