Notes: In the 1910 U.S. census Waldemar L. Hoyer and his wife Elna were living at 378 Barclay Street
in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Their oldest two children had evidently died.
Living with them were sons Waldemar R., age 10 years, and Edgar, age 7 years.
The census taker reported their names as Walter L., Elanore, Walter, and Edgar.
Walter L. was still a fitter in a terra cotta plant, and they owned their home with a
mortgage.
In 1918, when Waldemar R. registered for the World War I draft, the family was
at 378 Barclay, and he was listed as being a clerk for an engineering company.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Waldemar L. was now a foreman in the terra cotta plant. Elna and Waldemar
R. were not employed, but Edgar was working in an office. Both Waldemar L. and Elna
had become naturalized citizens.
By the 1930 U.S. census, Waldemar L. incorrectly listed as Walter, and his wife Elna
were living alone. They owned their home, which was worth $2,600. Waldemar
was now a foreman at the terra cotta plant.
The couple are listed in the Perth Amboy, NJ, City Directory in the years 1915
through 1945, at this address. |
