Notes: Johannes (John) Stucki and his wife Katharina Ruegsegger came to the United States in
1860, and were members of the original Swiss pioneers to settle in Santa Clara, Utah,
in 1861. They had come from Switzerland with their daughter Rosetta and son
Gottfried (Godfrey). A son Ferdinand had died in Switzerland. Their children
Edward, Katharine and John were born in Utah. They are not found in the 1870 USA
census. In 1880, the family included Godfrey, age 21 years, Edward, age 18 years,
Kathrine, age 14 years, and John, age 10 years. John was a farmer and his two
older sons were working on the farm. In 1900, Godfrey and John were still
bachelors and living at home. Rosetta was divorced and also living at home.
The census reports that Katharine had had seven children, five of whom were then living.
