They had been married for 2 years.
In the 1910 U.S. census, Wallace, 40, and Marie, 36, were living on Block 24, Serns Avenue,
Aneta, Nelson, North Dakota. Wallace was a hardware retail merchant, and an employer.
The children were now Elmer D., 11, Howard L., 9, Edith I., 8, Wallace H. 6, Walter G., 4, and
Alvin M. 1 month. They had a servant, Martha Negel, 20, born in Germany, and two
lodgers, Melvina De Roche, 21, a public school teacher, and Tom S. Ham, 51, with his own
income.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Walter E., 50, was still a merchant, and the family was still
living on Serns Avenue, Aneta. Marie M., 44, had now had seven children, all of whom
were not working, and still living at home. These were Elmer D., 21, Howard L., 19,
Edith I., 17, Wallace H., 16. Walter G. 14, Alvin M., 9, and Ralph W., 6.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Walter E., 60, still a hardware retail merchant, and Marie, 55,
had five of their children living at home in Aneta. These were Elmer, 31, Wallace H.,
26, Walter G., 24, Alvin M. 20, and Ralph W., 16. |
