Notes: In the 1891 England census, Henry B. Walton, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, and
his wife, Mary Walton, 35, born in Preston, Lancashire, were living at 148 Carr Street, Sheffield,
Yorkshire. Henry was a wire drawer (one who makes wire by drawing the hot metal through
dies). Their children were Elizabeth A., 10, Annie, 7, and William 5, all born in Preston,
Lancashire, and Henry B., 3, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Also in the household was Alice
Cooper, 58, widow, born in Preston, Lancashire, the mother of Mary.
In the 1901 England census, Henry B. Walton, 43, and his wife Mary, 45, were still living at
148 Carr Street, Sheffield. The children were Ellen A., 20, [?]shop manager; Annie, 17, teaching
school pupil; William, 15, engineer apprentice; Henry B., 13, [?] houseboy; and Mabel Walton, 8,
born in Sheffield; Also in the household was Alice Anderton, 68, mother-in-law.
On 31 Jan 1907, William Walton, 22, a machinist, left Liverpool, England, sailing aboard the
S.S. Canada, arriving in Portland, Maine on 9 Feb 1907. In 1910, Henry B. Walton,
52, and his daughter Mable, 17, left Liverpool, England, sailing aboard the S.S. Dominion,
arriving in Quebec, Canada on 1 May 1910. Henry, a wire drawer, planned to farm in Quill Lake,
Saskatchewan. Mabel, a domestic, listed no planned occupation.
Later census records report Mary Walton emmigrated to Canada in 1911. |
