He was the son of Henry Lewis and Caroline Mathews. He married Rosalie Anna Theodora Nielsen on 13
Jul 1887, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Rosalie, born 14 Apr 1866 in Melrose, Holbaek, Denmark was the
daughter of Christian Nielsen and Christiane Vallentin. Arthur had emmigrated to America
in 1881, and was a naturalized citizen. Rosalie had immigrated in 1880.
In the 1900 U.S. census, Arthur and Rosalie, both 33, were living in Salt Lake City Ward 2, Salt Lake,
Utah. Arthur was a day laborer. Their children were Maybell, 12, born in May 1888, Elise, 10,
born Dec 1889, Ethel, 8, born Nov 1891, Clarence, 6, born Jul 1893, John F., 4, born Aug 1895, Ruth A., 3,
born Mar 1897, and Ernest F., 5 months, born in Dec 1899. The children had all been born in Utah
and the oldest four were attending school.
By the 1910 U.S. census, the family had moved to Overton, Clark, Nevada, and were renting a house.
Arthur, 43, was a florist, working out. Rosalie T., 43, now had 12 children, all living.
These were Maybell R., 22, Elise C., 20, Ethel M., 18, Clarance A., 17, a farmer working out,
John F., 15, Ruth H. 13, Ralph L., 9, Grace M., 8, June B., 5, Roger F., 4, and Leonard E., 5 months.
Only Leonard had been born in Nevada. Clarance, John, Ruth, Ralph, Grace and June were attending school.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Overton, Arthur, 53, and Rosellie A.T., 53, owned their farm free of mortgage.
Arthur was a general home farmer, working on his own account. Both had been naturalized in 1895.
Their children at home included John F., 24, a church missionary, Ernest T., 21, an apprentice machinist,
Lionel R., 19, a catle ranch laborer, Grace M., 17, June B., 15, Rodger V., 14, and Emery L., 9. The
youngest four were attending school.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Overton, Arthur, 64, and Rosalee, 63, were still on their farm. Their
son Emery, 20, was a farm laborer. Their daughter June D. Thran, 25, was married with two sons,
Emery Thran, 2, and Bobbie Thran, 1.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Overton, Arthur, 73, and Rosalie, 73, were living alone in their same house,
valued at $1,000. Arthur was no longer working.
Arthur died 24 Mar 1945 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada. Rosalie died 11 Dec 1950 in Pioche,
Lincoln, Nevada. Both are buried in the Logandale Cemetery, Logandale, Clark, Nevada.
