Notes: In the 1910 U.S. census, John C. Demell, 67, and his wife Kittie Demell, 37, were living on
Upper Eklton Road, Athens, Limestone, Alabama. John, born in Illinois, owned the farm and was farming
on his own account. Kittie had been born in Wisconsin, and they had been married 17 years. They
had four adopted children, all born in the United States. These were Henry, 12, working on the home farm,
Grace, 10, Erle, 6, and Ruby, 2. The oldest two attended school. Also in the household was Dobina
Montgomery, 59, a widow and John's sister. |
