Notes: Frederic Percival Dean was born 16 Sep 1903 in Ontario, San Bernardino, California, and grew up there. His parents were William Edgar Dean & Robina N. Noble. He was the second of five children. His brother Paul was born in 1901, Walter in 1905, and sister Marion in 1908. At the right Paul, Fred and Walter are seen parading on a 4th of July in Ontario. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In the 1910 and 1920 U.S. census records, Fred's family was living at
809 West "D" Street. His youngest brother William
was born in 1911. The photograph at the near right was taken about 1920.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Fred was living in Yakima, Yakima, Washington. He was one of four lodgers with the Keylon family. His occupation was listed as researcher for the Bureau of Entomology (insects). Fred married Helena (Helen) Burnell in 1930 or 1931. They made their home in Yakima, Washington, where they raised three children. The Yakima, Washington, City Directories list them living at 202 9th Ave. S, Apt 6, in 1931 through 1933, and at 801 13th Ave S in 1934 and 1935. Fred is shown at left about 1938 with his second son, and in 1947 with the youngest two children. In the 1940 U.S. census, Paul and Helen were living in their long time home at 911 Pleasant Avenue, Yakima. Their two sons were ages 5 and 1. Paul was an entomologist, working for the Department of Agriculture. He had 5 years of college. His income in 1939 was $2,200. Fred's last residence was in Yakima. He died 15 Aug 1986 in Yakima City, Yakima, Washington, and is buried in Terrace Heights Cemetery, Yakima, Washington. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
