Notes: Wesley Stewart was born in Ontario, Canada, between 1867 and 1869 according to various
census records. His parents were Irwin Stewart, pictured at right, born in Ireland,
and Frances Cook, born in Ontario. They were probably married 25 Mar 1858 in
Esquesing Twp., Halton, Ontario. Wesley does not appear with them in the 1871
Canada census. In 1891, he is living with his father, now a widower, in Glenwood,
Manitoba. They are listed as farmers, and both are listed as Methodist.
His father died of chronic bronchitis on 29 Jan 1895 in Glenwood, with Wesley the
informant on the death record. Wesley married Minnie Etta Detwiller on 11 Jul 1894 in Brandon, Manitoba. Their son Herbert John Stewart was born 2 Feb 1896 in Brandon. Minnie Etta died 27 Nov 1897, and is buried in the Brandon Hills Cemetery. Their son Herbert John went to live with his maternal grandparents, John and Selina Detwiller. Wesley married a second time on 7 Mar 1906 to Isabella Laird. According to the 1906 census record, she had immigrated from Ireland to Canada in 1900. Their son Harold Wesley Stewart was born 29 Jun 1907, in Brandon. In 1916, they were still in Brandon. Wesley was a carpenter, and listed as Methodist. Isabella and their son were listed as Presbyterian. Wesley died sometime after 1943 in Manitoba. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
