Notes:  Click to enlarge James Fergus McNaught was born 9 Sep 1891 in West Monkton, Grey Twp., Huron, Ontario.  His parents were Henry Alexander McNaught and Rebecca Dunn Detwiller.  He grew up on the family farm known as Deerbank.  He had an older sister Alberta (Bert), born in 1882, older brothers Russell, born in 1884, and David Vernon born in 1885, a sister Minnie Ethel born in 1888, and a brother Harry Lorne born in 1889, all recorded in the 1891 Canadian census records.  James was born right after the 1891 Canada census.  His younger sister Ida Beth was born in 1896, and sister Sarah Mildred in 1899.  The 1901 Canada census shows the entire family together.  Sarah died later in 1901, just short of her second birthday.  In the 1911 Canada census, only Alberta, Minnie, James and Ida were living at home.  Alberta was a school teacher, and Minnie and James were listed as students.

In the 1916 Alberta census, James was living in Battle River, Alberta, Canada.  Single at age 28 years, he was a farmer.  According to family records, he married Gladys Crosby Parsons on 26 Nov 1916, presumably in Alberta.  The marriage resulted in three children.

In the 1921 Canada census, James and Gladys were living in Ethelwyn, Battle River, Alberta.  He was farming on Sec. 12, Twp. 53, Range 5, Meridian 4, and they owned their wooden home with 6 rooms.  Their first son Howard was 3 years old.  James' brother Harry was farming on Sec.2, Twp. 53.

James and Gladys returned to Huron County, Ontario, and in the 1949 through 1963 Voter Lists they are recorded as living on R.R. 3, Monkton.  James became the succesive bee keeper to his father Henry on Deerbank Farm.  James' death date is unknown.  He and his wife Gladys are burried in the Woodland Methodist Cemetery, Mitchell, Perth, Ontario.
