Notes:  Lawrence Edward James was born 1 Nov 1903 in Haliburton County, Ontario.  His father was Herbert B. E. James.  His mother's name is unclear on the birth record.  The 1911 Canada census, Ops Twp., Victoria, Ontario, lists Herbert James, 42, and Eina James, 33, and their six children.  These were Velma, 14, Norman, 12, Clarence, 9, Lawrence, 7, Pearl 4, and Tily, 3 years.  Herbert, born in England, was a farmer; Eina had been born in the United States.  The family was listed as Presbyterian.

The 1921 Canada census, Smith Twp., Peterborough West, Ontario, lists Lawrence, 18, living with and employed as a farm laborer by Herbert Scott, 52, and his wife Florence, 32.  The Scotts' children were Cecil, 4, Edythe, 2, and Walter, 9 months.

Lawrence married Marion Henrietta Detwiller on 9 Aug 1949 in Fort William (now Thunder Bay), Ontario.  Larry was a conductor for the Canadian Pacific Railroad, and Marion was a hairdresser.  Larry had two daughters from a prior marriage.  Larry and Marion lived in Schreiber, Ontario for several years, and had three children, born in Terrace Bay, Ontario.  The family moved to Brandon, Manitoba, where their fourth child was born.  They moved to The Pas, Manitoba, where Marion again had her own salon.  The couple separated in 1964, and Marion moved back to Imperial, Saskatchewan, with the children.  They were divorced about 1966.

Lawrence died 18 Mar 1990 at Red Deer, Alberta.  His burial place is unknown.
