Notes: Ludwig Opid and Caroline Hildebrand were married 22 Nov 1905 in her parents home
at 38 South Wilson Avenue in Alhambra, California. The ceremony was performed
by Rev. Father Farelli of St. Andrews Church of Pasadena. Her sister Alice was
the maid of honor, Henry Fishbeck was the best man, and Gounod Romandy played
the wedding march on violin. Ludwig, a noted celloist, was 19 years older than
Caroline. His first wife Stefania had died in 1903, leaving him with three
children.
In 1910, Ludwig and Caroline, and his three children, were living at 519 South Breed
Street, Los Angeles. Their own daughter Stephanie was born 5 Sep 1910.
In the 1920 U.S. census, only their daughter Stephanie and Ludwig's daughter Helen were
living with them. The couple continued to live on Breed Street until sometime
after 1923, when they moved to 1018 S. Grammercy Place, Los Angeles.
In the 1930 U.S. census, only their daughter Stephanie, age 19, was living with them.
In the 1940 U.S. census, their daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Edward Cyril Horton
were living with them.
Ludwig died 6 Oct 1948. Caroline died 23 Oct 1973. They are buried in
Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. [Plot: Harmony, Lot 2925,
Space 1]. |
