"The Eccentric Bachelors." Alhambra Advocate, Alhambra.
Cal., Saturday, November 11, 1899, Vol. 2, No. 6, p. 1, col. 4.
This is the name of the new gentlemen's club just formed in Alhambra,
which meets on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at their clubhouse.
At the meeting last Saturday evening, the full complement of the club was
reached, fifteen members, comprising the following well known young gentlemen:
Dr. M.S. Charles, president; Joseph Winsor, secretary; Henry Olson,
treasurer; Marion McMillian, sergeant-at-arms; Howard Wayne, Dura Blackburn,
Lawrence Arnold, Harry Lane, Irvin Behlow, George Olson,
Roscoe Behlow, Charles McMillian, Clarence Williams, Jacob T.F. Koch, Howard Winsor.
At the close of the business session of the club a portion of the members indulged in
music, games, etc., while others discussed the leading questions of the day in an informal
manner. What portion of the club business is "eccentric" remains a mystery.
Perhaps it's the initiation ceremony. And that's what the girls are trying
to find out. |
