Knight AlA, Bradenton, Florida. 1961-1964: independent practice in Bradenton, Florida. 1964-1967 Adjunct Professor in Architecture and in Environmental Studies: University of Detroit; Director of Planning & Housing: Smith Hinchman & Grylls Associates, Architects & Engineers. 1968-1969: Director of Design & Planning, Harley Ellington Associates, Detroit, MI. 1969: resumed independent practice, continued to present day. 1970-1971 (concurrent with independent practice): Executive Director, The Governor's Special Commission on Architecture: responsible for developing new methods and organization for improving State of Michigan design and construction. 1971-1973: CEO, International Construction Advisors: $1 billion of new construction overseen. 1975: Began construction management of most projects designed by my architectural firm. 1978: Began developing real estate projects, integrating the develop/design/build capabilities. 1981-1983: Opened office at Hilton Head Island S.C. Had a heart attack,4x bypass surgery. 1984-1998: Moved company to Rancho Santa Fe CA: continued development/design/const. mgt.; expert witness in design & construction for attorney-clients in 3 states. 1999-present: returned to Michigan, where sons had remained; continue private practice in Architecture and Planning; presently Consulting Planner, Spring Lake Township, MI. HONORS AND AWARDS: Amherst: shared the "Heisey Prize in Fine Arts" with Maury Childs. MIT: Tau Beta Pi, (engineers' equivalent to Phi Beta Kappa). Award of Special Commendation, AlA Gulf Coast Chapter. Award of Merit, AlA Florida Association. One-man exhibition of architectural work at Manatee County Art Center. Michigan Governor's Award for Excellence in Architecture. Michigan Governor's Award for Excellence in Interior Design.
