Fire Consumes Hinckley Home The frame four bedroom home of " Mr. and Mrs. Reed Stewart in Hinckley was reduced to ashes in a fire of undetermined origin Tuesday night, Feb. 9th." The fire was discovered by Mrs. Gordon Bishop at approximately 1:30 a.m. as she was up with one of her children. She had smelled smoke earlier in the evening she reported to Mr. Stewart but had thought it was her furnace at her own home. While Mrs. Bishop ran to neighbors, Ward Petersen, to telephone the Delta Volunteer Fire Dept. Mr. Bishop tried to run a long garden hose from their home to the Stewart home in an effort to extinguish the fire. The hose was about ten feet too short. The firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart recently added a new bedroom at their Hinckley home. They are residing in Magna presently where he is employed at Hercules. |
