Notes:  Minnie May Long was born 10 Dec 1861 in Vacaville, Solano, California.  She was the first of four children of William Buck Long and Timandra J. Lewis.  In the 1870 US census, she was living with her family in Vacaville.  Her father was a farmer.  She was 8, and identified as Nina.  Her siblings were Nora, 6, and George 4.  also living with the family was a domestic, Ann Cunning, 35.

In 1876 - 1877, Minnie attended the California College, Vacaville.  It was a Baptist College.  She is identified as being in the Primary class.

In the 1880 US census, Minnie, 18, was still at home with her family.  Her siblings were Nora, 16, George, 14, working on the farm, and Sallie, 8.  Also living with the family was her maternal grandmother, Tomanda Lewis.

In the 1900 US census, Minnie, 38, was still single and living with her father and sister Sallie, 28.  Her mother had died in 1895.  Also in the household was her uncle, Jessie C. Lewis, 55, and four employees, all working on the farm.

Minnie's father died in 1903, and Minnie took over the farm.  In the 1910 US census, Minnie, 48, owned the farm, free of mortgage.  Her sister Sallie, 37, was living at home.  Minnie had two employees — Hy Wong, 26, cook, and George Samuels, 48, her foreman.

Minnie May Long and George Washington Samuels were married 2 Jan 1915 in Vacaville.  It was to be a short marriage.  Minnie died 24 Dec 1916 in Vacaville.  Cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.  She was buried 26 Dec 1916 in the IOOF Cemetery, now the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery, Vacaville, California.

Minnie's will, probated on 22 Jan 1917, left all her real and personal property to her husband, George W. Samuels, who was also named executor.
