| Notes: On 30 Dec 1869, Henry and Catherine, along with Henry's sister Mary
Catt and Mary's fiancée Charles, traveled from
Bosanquet, Ontario, to Port Huron City, Michigan. There they had a double wedding
— and each couple witnessed the other couple's marriage.
Henry was 34 years old at that time and Catherine was 21. |
Although Henry and Catherine were married in the United States, they lived in
Bosanquet Township, Lampton County, Ontario, Canada — and all of their
children were born in Bosanquet.
One of Henry and Catherine's children was stillborn, and two
(Eliza and Melvin)
died at 1¼ year and at 4 months, respectively. The other 11 children
are shown in the 1896 photograph at the right, lived to adulthood, and 10 of
them married. One of Henry and Catherine's children immigrated to California
(Cora Pearl)
and eventually died there. The others remained and died in Ontario;
12 of them were buried in Lambton County.
Henry and Catherine's marriage lasted for 29 years and 11 months. |
