Notes: In the 1871 Ontario census, Thomas French, 46, born in England, and his wife,
Susana French, 40, born in England, had a homestead on Lot 30, Conc. 13, northwest of Mitchell,
Logan Township, Perth County North, Ontario. Their
children were Thomas, 16, Susan, 14, John, 12, Mary, 11, William, 9, George, 7, Sarah, 5, Edward,
5, and Agnes, 3 months. Thomas, their oldest, had been born in England, the rest in Ontario.
Thomas was a farmer, and their religious preference was Church of England.
In the 1881 Ontario census, Logan Twp., Thomas, 54, and Susanna, 49, had an additional child. The
children still at home included Thomas, 26, William, 19, George, 16, Sarah, 14, Edward, 13, Agnes, 10,
and Jane, 6. Their religious preference was Wesleyan Methodist.
In the 1891 Ontario census, Logan Twp., Thomas, 63 and Susanna, 59, had changed their religious
preference to Presbyterian. The children at home included Robert, 34, George, 28, Edward,
23, Agnes. 20, and Jane 16.
Thomas died 23 Mar 1894, on the homestead. Susannah died 4 Jun 1903 in Mitchell. Both Thomas
and Susannah are buried in the Woodland Methodist Cemetery, Mitchell, Perth,
Ontario. |
