Notes: In the 1911 Canada census, Charles Detwiller, 35, and his wife Martha, 35, both born
in Ontario, were living in the Gainsborough and Carievale Villages area of the
Argyle R.M., Assiniboia District of Saskatchewan. Charles was a farmer, and had a
3000£ life insurance policy that cost him 100£s in the census year.
The children, all born in Manitoba, were Gordon H., age 7, born Mar 1904, Margarey May,
5, Oct 1905, Margaret Pearl, 4, Mar 1907, and Florence Myrtle, 1, Jul 1909.
In the 1916 Saskatchewan census, farming in the same location, Charles, 40, and Martha,
40, identified the family as Presbyterian. The children were Gordon, 12, Marjory,
10, Pearl, 9, Florence, 7, Marion 4, and Dorthy, 2. Marion and Dorothy had been
born in Saskatchewan. The census taker incorrectly reported that the older four
had also been born in Saskatchewan.
The 1921 Canada census enumerated Charles, 45, and Martha, 45, on the same farm.
The children were listed as Gordon H., 17, farming on his fathers's farm, Marjorie M.,
15, Margaret R., 14, Florence M., 12, Etta M., 10, and Dorothy, 7. The younger
four were attending school. |
