Edith Western was born 15 Jul 1884 in Deseret, Millard, Utah. They were married 17 Sep 1904 in Colonia
Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico.
In the 1920 U.S. census the Mortenson family was living in Whitewater, Cochise,
Arizona. George F. Mortenson, 36,[born in Missouri*], was a general farmer
working on his own account. He owned the farm with a mortgage. His wife, Edith
Mortenson, 35, was born in Utah. Their children were Bertha, 14, Eva, 13, George E.,
11, Oral R., 6, Evert, 3, and Loman, 11 months. All of the children had been born
in Arizona, except for George, who had been born in Mexico.
In the 1930 U.S. census, George F. Mortenson, 45, [born in New Mexico*], and his wife Edith, 45, were
living on Upper Lowell in Lowell, Cochise, Arizona. George was a fireman for the copper mines.
The children living in the household were Oral, 16, Everett, 13, Lioman, 11, Delbert, 8, and Vernell, 6,
all born in Arizona.
In the 1940 U.S. census, George F. Mortinson, 55, [born in Arizona*], and his wife Edith, 55, were living at
326 Hoggard Street, Warren, Cochise, Arizona. This was the same residence as in 1935. They owned the
home, value $1,500. and had no radio. George had completed 8 years of school, was a deputy sheriff, and
had earned $2,100. the prior year. Edith had completed 6 years of school. Their two sons at home
were Everett, 23, and Delbert, 18, both gas station attendants, and both had completed high school. Their
daughter Vernell, 16, a student, had completed two years of high school.
Edith died 29 Apr 1954 in Douglas, Cochise, Arizona. George died 7 Jun 1965 in Douglas. They are buried
in the Whitewater Cemetery, Elfrida, Cochise County, Arizona.
