Notes: Milton Hamilton Dunshie was born 22 Mar 1880 in Berwick
St. Mary's Parish, Louisiana. His parents were W. C. Dunshie and Mary Thompson. Blanche L. Border
was born 27 Nov 1892 in Marble Falls, Burnet, Texas. Her parents were Wade Hampton Border and Clara
Ebling.
In the 1920 U.S. census, M.H. (Milton) Dunshie, 39, and his wife Blanche Dunshie, 27, were living on Hamshire
Road, Justice Precinct 4, Jefferson, Texas. Milton was a rice farmer, and their farm was rented.
They had three daughters, namely Clarra L., 4, Wadane, 2½, and Hellen, 8 months. All the daughters
had been born in Texas. Boarding in the household was Vergel Pittman, 19, a rice farm laborer.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Milton Dunshie, 50, and his wife Blanche Dunshie, 37, were living on State Highway South,
Justice Precinct 4, Jefferson, Texas. The family was renting a house, not on a farm. No occupation was
listed for Milton; Blanche was a school teacher. Their daughters were Clara, 14, Wadene, 12, and Helen,
10, all attending school.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Milton Dunshie, 60, and his wife, Blanche Dunshie, 46, were living at 1415 Emma, Beaumont,
Jefferson, Texas, the same city as in 1935. Milton was a truck driver for the City Street Department, had
completed two years of college, and had earned $1,000. in 1939. Blanche was a public school teacher, had
completed two years of college, and had earned $1,300 in 1939. Their daughters were all still at home and
single. Clara, 24, was a secretary for a commercial credit company, had completed two years of college,
and had earned $780. in 1939. Wadene, 22, was a secretary in a public school, had completed two years of
college, and had earned $780. in 1939. Helen, 20, was a student and had completed one year of college.
Milton H. Dunshie and his wife Blanche Dunshie appear in the Beaumont (Texas) City Directories for the
years 1931 through 1949, and Blanche until 1956. Milton worked for the City of Beaumont, Street and
Bridge Department, in several capacities, including truck driver. Blanche was a school teacher, teaching at
different schools throughout the years. From 1931 through 1937 the family is listed at 675 Palm,
Beaumont. In 1938, the family is listed at 585 Anchor, Beaumont. And from 1940 on, they are listed at
1495 Emma, Beaumont.
Milton died 18 Aug 1949 at home at 1415 Emma, Beaumont. Cause of death was a coronary occlusion. At time of death his
occupation was listed as foreman for the street department. Blanche died 10 Nov 1974 in St. Elizabeth's
Hospital, Beaumont. Casue of death was Lymphoma. At the time of her death her occupation was listed
as public school teacher, and her residence was 315 Woodrow, Beaumont. They are buried in the
Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson, Texas. |
