Idaho. His parents were James Johnson and Harriet Emeline Lamb. Clara Kern was born
15 Feb 1893 in Zurich, Switzerland. Her parents were Reinhold Kern and Amalia Elisabetha Wagen.
Floyd John and Clara Kern were married 6 Jun 1918 in the Logan LDS Temple, Logan, Cache, Utah. They
had a family of five children.
Their first son Floyd K. Johnson was born in 1919 and died the same year. He is buried in the
Preston Cemetery, Preston, Franklin, Idaho.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Floyd Johnson, 27, and his wife Clara Johnson, 26, were living 1st North 1st West
St., Preston, Franklin, Idaho. They were renting their residence. Floyd was a high school
teacher. Clara had immigrated to the United States in 1894 at the age of one, and became a naturalized
citizen in 1899.
Their daughter June Bishop was born 5 Jun 1920, son Max Ray Johnson on 25 Mar 1923, and another daughter,
Lucille. In the 1930 U.S. census, Floyd Johnson, 38, and his wife Clara K. Johnson, 38, were still
living in Preston, Franklin, Idaho. The family was renting their residence for $10. per month and
had a radio set. Floyd was a dentist, who had his own dental office. The children were
June, 9, and Max R., 7, both attending school; and Lucille, 4. One more daughter, Sharon, was
added to the family.
In the 1932-33 Rigby section of the Idaho Falls, Idaho City Directory, Floyd Johnson (Clara) is
listed as a dentist on E. Main. Clara worked as his dental assistant.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Floyd Johnson, 47, and his wife Clara K. Johnson, 46, were living on 1st
Street North, Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho. This was their same residence in 1935, which they owned,
valued at $3,500. Floyd had completed seven years of college, and was a doctor of dental surgery.
He had earned $2,500. in 1939, working on his own account. Clara had completed four years of high
school. The children were June, 19, with one year of college, Max R., 17, two years of high school,
Lucille, 14, 8th grade, and Sheron, 5. Also living in the household as a lodger was Sibil Wilkinson, 22,
an elementary school teacher.
In 1942, Floyd Johnson was 49 when he registered for the World War II draft. He was self employed, and
their mailing address was Box 124, Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho.
Floyd Johnson died 8 Jun 1951 at home, 171 W. 1st N., in Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho. Cause of death
was Uremia, with chronic Nephistis and Hypertension. He was buried 12 Jun 1951 in the Preston
Cemetery, Preston, Franklin, Idaho. His death certificate states that he was a dentist.
Clara married again to William Lorenzo Green on 18 Nov 1958 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, Idaho.
Clara Kern Johnson Green died 16 Nov 1996 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho. She was buried 19 Nov 1958
alongside her first husband in the Preston Cemetery, Preston, Idaho. |
