Utah. His parents were Jorgen Peterson Brown and Annie Peterson. Ada Johnson was born 9 Apr
1888 in Holden, Millard, Utah. Her parents were Hyrum Bevan Johnson and Chloe Stringham.
Erwin M. Brown, 22, of Teifio, Millard, Utah, married Ada Johnson, 23, of Holden, Millard, Utah, on
4 Oct 1911 in Salt Lake County, Utah. They had a family of five children.
On 5 Jun 1917 when Erwin Martin Brown registered for the World War I draft, he was a farmer and merchant,
working for himself in Scipio, Utah. He had a wife and two children, and was described as being of
medium build and height, with blue eyes and light brown hair. He claimed exemption from the draft as
being Justice of the Peace.
In the 1920 U.S. census, Erwin M. Brown, 30, and his wife Ada Brown, 31, were living on a farm they owned
in Scipio, Millard, Utah. Erwin was a merchant of general merchandise working on his own account.
Their children were Bevan C., 6, attending school; and Merwin J., 4, and Chloe A., 6 months.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Erwin M. Brown, 41, and his wife, Ada Brown, 42, were enumerated in Scipio,
Millard, Utah, still on their own farm. The family had a radio set, and Erwin was a general merchant.
The children were Bevan, 17, Mervin, 14, Chloe, 10, Garn, 8, and Coral, 5. Except for Coral, all of the
children attended school.
In mid 1935, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake. Ada Johnson Brown died 15 Dec 1935 at
10:30 a.m. due to heart problems. She died at home, which was at 918 Princeton Ave., Salt Lake City,
Salt Lake, Utah. Her funeral services were held in the LDS Church in Scipio, and she is buried in the
Scipio City Cemetery, Scipio, Utah.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Erwin Brown, 51, was living at 251 W. Center Street, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake,
Utah. His wife was Amada Brown, 47, who had been born in California. Erwin was an auditor for the
liquor commission, and earned $1,620 in 1939. The children at home were Choloe, 20, 5 years of high school;
Garn, 19, one year of college; stepson Robert Barton, 17, service station attendant, four years of high school;
and Coral, 15, 9th grade.
When Erwin Martin Brown, 53, registered for the World War II draft in 1942, he was living at 251 Center Street,
Salt Lake City, Utah, and was employed by the Utah Liquor Commission. He was described as 5' 11", 190 lbs.,
with blue eyes, brown hair and brown complexion. His son Beven E. Brown of Scipio, Utah, is listed as his
contact person.
Erwin Martin Brown died 19 Nov 1965, in Bountiful, Davis, Utah. He is buried with his first wife in the
Scipio City Cemetery, Scipio, Utah.
