Notes: Bertha Mae Seybold married Merrill A. Parrino about 1934. This was
a second marriage for Bertha, the first one being to Raymond Ashlock. Her two
daughters from her first marriage were Mary Louise Ashlock and Norma Lee Ashlock.
She and Merrill had three more daughters: Merrillyn, Jo Ann and Helen Izora.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Merrill A. Parrino, 34, and Bertha Parrino, 30,
were living at 4438 Turquoise Street, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. Their
neighborhood was Montecito Heights, just east of Alhambra. Merrill, born in Italy,
had completed 8th grade and was a crossing guard for a city school district. Bertha
had completed 12th grade. The children were Mary L., 12, 6th grade, Norma L., 10,
4th grade, Merrillyn 5, and Jo Ann, 4. Also in the household was Bertha's father,
Seth Seybold, 68, a widower who had completed 8th grade.
As recorded in the Alhambra City Directories, by 1946 the Parrino family was living at
501 South 6th Street, Alhambra, California. Merrill was a factory worker. From
1952 through 1956 Merrill is listed as an assembler for Layne & Bowler, a manufacturer
and distributor of vertical turbine pumps. In 1962 he is listed as an auto wrecker.
Bertha is listed in 1952 and 1954 as working as a cafeteria assistant for the William
Northrup Elementary School (in the Alhambra School District).
Merrill A. Perrino died 14 Nov 1988, his last residence being Alhambra, Los Angeles,
California. Bertha M. Perrino died 14 Aug 2004, still a resident of Alhambra.
