27 January in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. His parents were Norman Chisholm McLeod and
Mary Louise McKinnon. Marie Vandalia Richardson was born 17 January 1902 in Salt Lake City,
Salt Lake, Utah. Her parents were John R. Richardson and Adelaide Lillian Owen.
Harold and Marie were married 11 Jul 1923, place not given. Their first son, Harold Elmer
McLeod was born 8 May 1924 in Goldfield, Esmeralda, Nevada.
In the 1928 Long Beach, California, City Directory Harold B. McLeod and his wife Marie McLeod
are listed as renting at 1515 Stanton pl. Harold's occupation was listed as electrical.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Harold B. McLeod, 26, and Marie V. McLeod, 28, were living at 249½ Cedar St.
in Globe, Gila, Arizona. They were renting their residence for $24. a month. Harold was
a miner for O.B. Mines. They had one son, Harold E. McLeod, 5. A baby boy had been
stillborn at home on 1 Aug 1929.
Harold and Marie moved back to Goldfield, Esmeralda, Nevada, where their son Donald Bruce McLeod was
born 4 Feb 1931. On 11 April 1937, at the age of 6, Donald was killed in an automobile accident
on the Goldfield-Tonopah highway, 4 to 6 miles from Tonopah. Harold McLeod, now the manager for
the Pittsburg Mining Company in Goldfield, was driving. Marie McLeod and her mother Addie Richardson
were injured and taken to the Mine Operators hospital in Tonopah. Other passengers in the car were
Harold McLeod, 13, Mrs. Louise Maroney and her children, Helen and George Maroney.
Services for Donald Bruce McLeod were held Friday, 16 Apr 1937 in the Methodist church in Goldfield.
The Rev. Harold Baker, Episcopal minister of Tonopah conducted the service. Donald was buried in the
Knights of Pythias plot in the Goldfield Cemetery, Esmeralda, Nevada.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Harold B. McLeod, 36, and his wife Marie V. McLeod, 38, were living on Main Street
in Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada, Harold was a metal miner, and had finished one year of high school
Marie had completed three years of high school. Their son Harold E. McLeod, 15, had completed his
first year of high school.
Harold Bruce McLeod, 38, registered in Pioche for the WWII draft on 16 Feb 1942. He was working for
the Dave Gemmil Prince Consolidated Co. and was described as being 5'10", 152 lbs., of light complexion
with hazel eyes and brown hair. His son Harold Elmer McLeod registered in Pioche on 30 Jun 1942.
He was working for the Combined Metals Reduction Co. and was described as being 6'2", 170 lbs., of ruddy
complexion with blue eyes and brown hair.
In the 1943 Long Beach, California, City Directory Harold and Marie McLeod were living at 121½
E. 12th. Harold was a shipyard worker. Living with them was their daughter in-law
Mrs. Audrey McLeod, an aircraft worker for Douglas. In the
1945 Long Beach, California, City Directory Harold and Marie McLeod were still on E. 12th,
no occupation listed.
Harold Bruce McLeod died 17 Apr 1946 in Los Angeles County, California. His burial place is
unknown. Marie V. McLeod died 11 Jun 1978 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.
She is buried in Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park, Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada.
