Notes: Harold Elmer McCloud was born 8 May 1924 in Goldfield, Esmeralda, Nevada.
He was the oldest son of Harold Bruce McLeod and Marie Vandalia Richardson. In the
1928 Long Beach, California, City Directory his parents Harold B. and Marie McLeod are
listed as renting at 1515 Stanton pl. His father's occupation was listed as electrical. In the 1930 U.S. census, Harold E. McLeod, 5, was living with his parents at 249½ Cedar St. in Globe, Gila, Arizona. They were renting their residence for $24. a month. His father was a miner for O.B. Mines. A baby brother had been stillborn at home on 1 Aug 1929. The family moved back to Goldfield, Esmeralda, Nevada, where Harold's brother Donald Bruce McLeod was born 4 Feb 1931. On 11 April 1937, his brother Donald, age 6, was killed in an automobile accident on the Goldfield-Tonopah highway, 4 to 6 miles from Tonopah. His father, now the manager for the Pittsburg Mining Company in Goldfield, was driving, and his mother and grandmother were injured. Harold, then 13, was among the uninjured passengers. In the 1940 U.S. census, Harold E. McLeod, 15, was living with his parents on Main Street in Pioche, Lincoln, Nevada, His father was a metal miner. Harold had completed his first year of high school. Harold Elmer McLeod registered for the WWII draft in Pioche on 30 Jun 1942. He was working for the Combined Metals Reduction Co. and was described as being 6'2", 170 lbs., of ruddy complexion with blue eyes and brown hair. Harold E. McLeod married Audrey Walker on 12 Jul 1943 in Los Angeles County, California. In the 1957 Las Vegas, Nevada, City Directory Harold E. and Audrey McLeod were living at 2532 Perliter Ave., North Las Vegas. Harold was an electrical foreman at Nellis Air Force Base. They probably had four children. On 1 Feb 1960, their son Bruce Owen McLeod was born at the So Nev Memorial Hospital. He lived only seven hours, dying of a ruptured hyaline membrane. He is buried in the Mt. View Gardens of Memory, Las Vegas, Nevada. The marriage did not last, and Harold married Bettie Blanch Bell on 9 Jan 1970 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada. Bettie had been married previously and had one son. Harold and Bettie probably had a set of girl twins of their own. Harold's later addresses included Burlingame and Oakland (1990) in California, and 304 Orchid Dr., Las Vegas, Nevada (1993). Harold spent 31 years as an electrical foreman at Nellis Air Force Base. This was followed by 12 years as national vice president of the Government Employees Union. Harold D. McLeod died 23 Feb 2011 at the age of 86 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada.
