Notes:  Agnes was born 4 Oct 1911 in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California, in the family home at 326 N. Wilson Avenue.  Her parents were Henry John Olson and Amy Susan Noble.  She had an older brother Donald Keith, born in 1907.
Click to enlarge Agnes is shown in the photograph at left with her mother Amy at about age two.  She attended Garfield Avenue School, in the Alhambra City School District, from 1st grade through 8th grade, September 17, 1917 through June 19, 1925.  Her 8th grade teacher, Alice C. Thorpe, was also one of report cards show that she was sometimes absent, but never tardy.  While her grades were mostly average or above average, she got occasional below average grades in history and geography.

Click to enlarge In the 1920 U.S. census, Agnes W., 8, was living with her parents, Henry J. Olson, 39, and Amy N., 38, in their home on North Wilson, Alhambra.  Her father Henry was the manager of the planing mill.  Her brother Donald K., 12, and Agnes were both attending Garfield Avenue elementery school.

The family moved to their newly built home at 420 North Second Street in 1922.  Agnes took music lessons from Josephine Smith and others belonging to the Imperial College of Music and Arts, Los Angeles.  These included piano and the four-string banjo, seen in the photograph to the right, which is currently in the possession of Karen Hancock.  Lesson receipts dated March 13, 1925 through July 3, 1925, were found in the banjo case.

Agnes attended Alhambra High School.  Her 9th and 10th grade report cards show her taking Singing, English, Oral Expression, Algebra, Spanish, Geometry, History, and Gym.

Click to enlarge In October 1928, her senior year, Agnes became ill with tuberculosis.  She died January 19, 1929, at age 17, just months short of graduation.  She is seen at left withMarion Dean, her cousin with whom she was good friends.  Marion had died two years earlier, of rheumatic fever.

Funeral services were held 21 Jan 1929 at the chapel of Turner, Stevens & Turner, Alhmbera.  Her father bought a family plot in the San Gabriel Cemetery on Roses Road, San Gabriel, where she was buried.
