Notes: Wilfred Baldwin Miller was born 12 Jun 1929 in Perth Amboy, Middlesex, New Jersey. He was the fifth child of Peter John Miller and Evelyn Mae Baldwin. From an early age he was known as Will. He had three older brothers, John Leslie (Jack), Robert Alfred (Bob), and Alfred Lincoln (Al); and a sister Frances Dorthea (Fran). The family moved often, sometimes living in houses, and sometimes in flats over storefronts. Will grew up mainly in Perth Amboy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
In the 1930 U.S. census, Wilford, 10 months, was living with his family in Georgia.
His mother Evelyn Miller, 33, was renting a home at 220 N. Farrington, Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia.
His siblings were Jack, 10, Robert, 8, Frances, 6, and Alfred, 4. His father, Peter J. Miller, 31,
was an inmate in the U.S. Federal Penitentiary, in South Bend District, Fulton, Georgia. The family returned to Perth Amboy in 1931 and were readmitted to the First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy. Will was baptised 18 Jan 1931 in this church. The family was living at 205 Patterson Street, Perth Amboy. The 1931 Perth Amboy City Directory lists his father as a credit manager for Reynolds Bros Inc. ![]() In the 1940 U.S. census, Wilfred, 10, 5th grade, was living with his family at 2912 Stevens Avenue, Wilmar, Los Angeles, California. His parents, Peter J. Miller, 41, and Evelyn, 43, had both completed 8th grade, and his father was an accountant for a drug store, with an income of $1680. They owned their home. His siblings were Jack, 20, working as a brick mason apprentice, with 4 years of high school; Robert, 18, 4 years of high school; Frances, 16, 2 years high school; Alfred, 14, 1 year high school; and Ruth J., 3 months. Will attended Alhambra High School, taking a general course. In May of 1945, he was hospitalized for an emergency appendectomy. He graduated in 1947 and was a "Camera Shy Senior" in the yearbook. In the 1950 U.S. census, Wilfred, 20, was living with his parents, Peter J. Miller, 51, and Evelyn, 53, at 1821 S. Atlantic Blvd., Alhambra, Los Angeles, California. He was working as a clerk in his father's paint store. Only his sister, Ruth Jean, 10, was still at home. Wilfred B. Miller, 21, married Geraldine A. Weary, 19, on 10 Sep 1950 in Los Angeles County, California. They had two children, Kathleen and Victoria. In 1969, the family was living at 167 Longley Way, Arcadia, California. Everyone of his brothers and sisters had ties to the paint business. Will was no exception as he was a paint salesman. The marriage ended in divorce on 1 Jun 1974. Will married Marguerite Anne Hampson (Marge) on 2 Aug 1974. Their Southern California residences included 1146 Stanley Ave., Apr. 2, Glendale, 9575 Broadway, Apt. 7, Temple City (1978), and a Mobile home park at 15454 Horace St. #85, San Fernando (1978). They were here during the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. About 2000, they retired and moved to Sacramento. In the Spring of 2004 they were staying with Kathleen in Newport beacause of Will's knee surgery. Marge died in 2010 and Will passed away in 2016.
