Notes:  Vincent E. Hoyer was born 13 Dec 1924 in Metuchen, New Jersey.  He was christened on 14 Mar 1925 at St. Stephan's Danish Lutheran Church, Perth Amboy.  His parents were Waldemar and Nellie Hoyer.  In the 1930 U.S. census, the family was living at 141 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, which was his childhood home.

In 1930, at the age of 5 years, he traveled to Denmark with his parents.  Both sets of his grandparents had been born in Denmark, and had emmigrated to the United States.  The family returned to the Port of New York on 2 Oct 1930 aboard the S.S. Frederik VIII.  The family visited Denmark again when Vincent was 7 years old, returning 17 Jun 1932, again aboard the S.S. Fredrik VIII.

In the 1940 U.S. census, the family was still living at the 141 Amboy Avenue.  Vincent, now 15 years old, had a young sister, age 5.

Vincent enlisted for World War II duty on 1 May 1943.  He had had three years of high school, and his civil occupation was listed with the category of "tinsmiths, coppersmith, and sheet metal workers".  He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces, rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant.  He was a lead pilot and an all-weather pilot with the 448th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force, flying B-24s in the European Theatre.

Vincent married, and had six children.  He was a 1948 graduate of Rider College and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Rider University in 1989.  He was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Rider University in 1991.

Vincent was a business executive in the insurance industry.  He was President of New Jersey Manufactures Insurance Company (1966-1991), President of New Jersey Re-Insurance Company, West Trenton, New Jersey (1977-1991), and a director of the American Mutual Insurance Alliance.

He served on the board of directors of the South Jersey Industries, CoreStates Financial Corp., Mercer Medical Center, New Jersey Manufacturers Bank, New Jersey Property Liability Insurance Guarantee Association, the New Jersey State Saftey Council, Rider University, and the Pennington Young Men's Christian Association.

Vincent served as a deacon and elder of Pennington Presbyterian Church, and was a trustee of Westerly Road Church, Princeton.

From 1994 through 2002, Vincent's address was 190 Harbourton Woodsville Rd., Lambertville, New Jersey.  He died 2 Jun 2003, his last residence being Pennington, Mercer, New Jersey.  He is buried in the Riverview Cemetery in Trenton, New Jersey.
