Notes: Waldemar R. Hoyer married Nellie M. Miller around 1922, probably in Perth Amboy.
Their son Vincent was born 13 Dec 1924 in Metuchen, New Jersey. In the 1930 U.S.
census, the family was living at 141 Amboy Avenue in Metuchen. Vincent was five
years old, and Waldemar was a mechanical engineer in the "concrete machine" business.
In October 1930, Waldemar took his wife Nellie and son Vincent on a trip to Denmark,
probably to visit relatives they had never seen. They arrived back in the Port of
New York aboard the S.S. Frederik VIII, seen at the right, on 12 Oct 1930.
The three of them took the same trip in 1932, arriving back in New York by the
same ship on 27 Jun 1932.
In the 1940 U.S. census, Waldemar and Nellie were still living at the 141 Amboy Avenue
address, and Waldemar was listed as a mechanical engineer. Their home had a
$10,000. value, and Waldemar had earned $4,425. in 1939. Vincent was 15 years
old, and a young daughter was 5 years. Vincent later served in the U.S. Army Air
Forces during World War II, rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Nellie died in 1960. Waldemar moved to Sarasota, Florida,
at some unknown date, and remarried in April 1969. He died in August 1975,
his last place of residence being Sarasota, Florida. Both are buried in the
Alpine Cemetery, Middlesex, New Jersey. |
