Notes:  Alice Louisa Dennis was born 9 Aug 1884 in Indiana.  Her father was George Dennis, and her parents had been born in England.  According to her obituary, she came to Los Angeles, California in 1894 at the age of 10 years.  She may have married and had two daughters, but nothing is known about this first marriage.

Alice married Charles G. Hildebrand on 30 Sep 1918 in Santa Ana, Orange, California.  The marriage license indicates that she was single, with no previous marriage.  The 1930 U.S. census also indicates that she and Charles were married about 1918, but they are found in the 1916 voter registration rolls, residing in a boarding house located at 826 E. 7th Street in Los Angeles City.  The census records do not show that any daughters lived with the couple.  During her marriage to Charles, she was a housewife, and he was a signal supervisor for the Southern Pacific Railroad.  Charles and Alice did not have children of their own.

By 1924, Charles and Alice had moved to 842 Las Palmas Avenue, Los Angeles.  The 1930 U.S. census reports that they owned their home, which was worth $4,500. and had a radio.  The 1940 U.S. census reports that the home was valued at $3,000.  Alice had completed the sixth grade.

The 1944 Register of Voters shows that the couple moved to 920 S. Olive Avenue, sometime after 1942.  Charles died 8 Aug 1944.  When Alice died 3 Oct 1950, her home was reported as being at 4350 Kenwood Avenue, Los Angeles.  Her services were held at Pierce Brothers, Los Angeles at noon on 7 Oct 1950.  She was buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery, where her husband had been buried six years earlier.  Her obituary mentions that she left two daughters and three grand children.
