Notes: John Everett Spainhower was born 27 Aug 1914 in Alhambra, California. His parents
were James Spainhower and Harriet Fishback. In the 1920 U.S. census, the family,
seen at right, was living at 123 S. Palm Ave., Alhambra. In the early 1920's his
parents divorced, and his mother married George Baisley. *John took the surname
Baisley, but was not adopted by his stepfather. The family moved to Arizona, where his half-brother George was born in 1929. In the 1930 U.S. census, the family was living in Globe, Arizona. In 1938, the family was back in California, living at 327 Hershey Avenue, San Gabriel Precinct No. 18. John was registered as a Democrat. John married Viola May Page on 14 Jan 1938, probably in Alhambra, California. The 1939 Alhambra City Directory lists the couple living at 39 North Second Street. He was a lumber worker. In the 1940 U.S. census, they were living at 105 North Second Street, Alhambra, and John was listed as a machine operator. This became their long time residence. In the Voter Registrations records for 1940 and 1944, he is listed as a "stickman". He was registered as a Republican. In the 1956 city directory, he was listed as a foreman for Am Custom Milling. John and Viola had three daughters. He died 27 Feb 1989 in Alhambra, the city where he was born. He is buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California. Buried next to him is a daughter, Deborah Lee Baisley. Her headstone indicates she was born in 1958 and died in 2010. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
