Notes: When Lawrence C. Grambo (Larry) and Elizabeth Jane Miller (Betty) became engaged in Jan 1950 they
were both working for Industrial Tape Corp., he as an industrial engineer and she as employment manager. Lawrence and Elizabeth were married on 22 Apr 1950 in the Elizabeth Rodman Voorhees Chapel of the New Jersey College for Women (later known as the Douglass College ), of which she was a graduate. The Rev. George A. Humphries, retired minister of the First Presbyterian Church, Metuchen, officiated. In later years, Betty worked for Johnson and Johnson in the personnel department, and actually hired Larry as a mechanical engineer for the company. Their first home was a rented house in Cheesquake, New Jersey. They bought their own house about 1952, located at 111 Ayliffe Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey. Their family expanded by the birth of a son and a daughter. When Betty's mother Elizabeth Miller (Bess) came to live with them in 1961, they bought a home at 714 Boulevard, Westfield, and added a room for her. Through the years, Betty suffered from severe diabetes. On 3 Aug 1989, she had a heart attack and passed away at Overlook Hospital in nearby Summit, New Jersey. The funeral service was held at The Presbyterian Church of Westfield on 7 Aug 1989, and interment followed in the Old Tennent Churchyard Cemetery, Tennent, New Jersey. Larry died in Summit Hospital on 23 May 1998, just a week after being diagnosed with a rapid-growing cancer. Funeral services were 28 May 1989 in the Chapel of The Presbyterian Church of Westfield. He is buried next to his wife in the Old Tennent Churchyard Cemetery, in Tennent, New Jersey. | ||||||||||||||||
