Notes: William LaPlant and Mary Rose Haley, known as Rose, were married 21 Feb 1893 in
Minneapolis, Kansas. The Rev. J.T. Sponseller performed the ceremony in the
Lutheran Parsonage. Their first son Louis was born in Dec 1894.
The 1895 Kansas census finds them farming in Meridith Township, Cloud County,
Kansas. |
In the fall of 1895, they drove a team of horses with a
covered wagon to North Dakota. Their daughter Neva was born 9 Feb 1896 in
Tyrol Township, Griggs County, North Dakota. The family moved to Romness Township,
where Ethel was born 22 May 1898, and William (Bruce) on 1 Jun 1900.
In the 1900 U.S. census, they were living in Romness
Twp., Griggs. Living with the family was Rose's sister
Nettie Haley, and William's brother George LaPlant. About 1905, the family
moved back to Tyrol Township.
In the 1910 U.S. census, the entire family was listed. In the 1915 Kansas
census, and 1920 U.S. census, Louis, Ethel, and Bruce were at home. In the 1925
Kansas census, only Bruce was living at home, and in 1930 U.S. census, only Louis was
at home.
