Notes: Charles Detwiller married Martha May Brown on 28 Jan 1903, in Logan Twp., Perth County,
Ontario. Both were 26 years of age. He was a farmer, residing in Brandon,
Manitoba, she was a resident of Logan Township. In the 1906 Manitoba census,
they were living in the Hayfield P.O. area of
Manitoba. They had two children, Gordon, born in March 1904, and Margarey, born
22 Oct 1905, both in Manitoba. Charles was was farming next door to his father,
John Detwiller. The family had 10 horses, 8 milk cows, 10 other cattle, and
15 pigs. A male servant was also living in the household. Their daughter
Margaret was born in March 1907, and daughter Florence in July 1909. The family
moved to Saskatchewan prior to the 1911 census.
In the 1911 Canada census, Charles and Martha were living in the Assiniboia District of
Saskatchewan. Charles was farming. He had a 3000£ life insurance
policy that cost him 100£s in the census year. Daughter Marion was born
about 1911 and daughter Dorothy was born about 1914. The family is found here in
the 1916 Saskatchewan census and the 1921 Canada census.
Charles died 27 Mar 1940, and Martha died 30 Oct 1943. Both are buried in the
Englefeld Union Cemetery, Englefeld, Saskatchewan. |
