Matheison Detwiller] "Tyrol Township Resident Is Victim of Chronic Heart Ailment. A figure long prominent in Griggs Co. affairs, Andrew M. Detwiller, 56, died at his home in Tyrol Township on Monday of this week. Funeral services have been set for 1 PM Friday at the Masonic Temple. Chronic heart failure as well as the after effects of several strokes was declared the cause of death. He had been ailing over a period of three years." Active in Lodges Mr. Detwiller was active in two lodges. He was a past master of the Northern Lights Lodge number 45 A.F.A.M. and was past chancelor commander of the Knights of Pythias Lodge. For a number of years he was active in the Griggs Co. Fair Association, serving for a time as director and secretary. He was a member of the Tyrol Township board for a number of years and was a township clerk. Two years ago he was the Democratic candidate for state senator from this district and was defeated by a narrow margin. Born in Canada Born on June 25, 1881 at St. Marys. Canada he came with his parents to Griggs Co. and has been a resident of Tyrol for 51 years. He was married to (Isabel) Beattie also of Ontario March 25, 1903. Besides his widow, four children survive him. They are: Harold of Wisconsin, Ronald at home, Mrs. Elmer Smith of Winnabago, Minn. and Mrs. Ray Kent of Montana. Living brothers and sisters include John, Fred, and Harry Detwiller and Mrs. R.H. Pratt. A.B. Detwiller is a cousin. Rev. C.C. Converse will officiate at the funeral. O.A. Carlson is funeral director." | ||||
