- "Provan Snags Largest Fish at Ocean Park"
"Leon F. Peterson of West 35th Place, Los Angeles, California formerly
of Provo, recently won the prize for catching the largest fish from the Baitwell barge at Ocean
Park during the month of August, when he hooked a 33½ pound halibut.
Mr. Peterson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Peterson
of Provo and has lived in Los Angeles for the past five years, since leaving Provo.
His catch broke a three-way tie for the largest fish. Until he took out his halibut,
three 33-pounders held the lead."

- 'Technical Violation'
"Leon F. Peterson, 51, 960 N. 1st W., through
his attorney entered a plea of guilty to a charge of driving during revocation. His
counsel said it was only a "technical violation," since the year of revocation had been filed
late, and he believed it legally expired.
Police records indicate the defendant was picked up at 2 a.m. Jan 31
after his truck ran up on private property at 90 W. 10th N.; was charged with public intoxication
and released; then was arrested at 5:47 p.m. fro driving while under the influence of intoxicating
liquor, involving an accident, and was charged with driving during revocation.
Long Record
His license had been revoked in 1953 by Orem for driving during
intoxication. Provo police said state records indicated he had been charged with drunk driving
in 1947 and 1949, and had been picked up 10 times for public intoxication.
The judge fined him $75 for revocation driving. Trial on the drunk
driving charge of the same date is set for May 21."

- "Guilty Plea On Drunk Driving Brings $250 Fine"
"Leon F. Peterson, 51, 960 N. 1st W., was
permitted to change his plea in Provo City Court on a charge of driving while under the influence
of intoxicating liquor Jan. 31 from innocent to guilty, and was fined $250 and sentenced to 125
days in jail in event the fine is not paid. On a charge of public intoxication the
same day, charges were dismissed for insufficient evidence. Both charges involved traffic
accidents."
