Juanita Barney Alvey Felix 1918 ~ 2005
Our beloved Juanita Barney Alvey Felix, 87 of Springville, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005. She was born
May 22, 1918 to Royal Barney and Lilly Moosman Barney of Escalante, Utah. Juanita was reared as oldest of a
large family and attended schools in Escalante. Here she met and married the love of her life,
Victor Alvey. They were sealed together for time and eternity in the St. George Temple,
April 3, 1936. Together they had four sons who were the pride and joy of their lives. During their marriage
they lived in Escalante, Mapleton and Salem. They then moved to Nampa, Idaho where Victor was killed in 1951.
Juanita and her sons moved to Springville where her parents resided. Juanita had various places of employment while
raising her boys, and her most rewarding was at BYU working with different ethnic groups. She married
Ivan Felix in 1953. Together they served a mission in Canada in 1977 and served
among the Lamanites whom they grew to love. They were together for 45 years. In their latter years, they
spent several winters in Overton. Ivan passed away in 1998. Juanita had various church callings in the
LDS Church. She loved her family and they were her whole life. She is loved by many family members,
neighbors and friends and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She dedicated her life serving and loving
her family. She is survived by four sons: Jerald (Tamara) Alvey; Tom (April) Alvey; Ron (Karen) Alvey and
Wallace (Sharon) Alvey: four stepchildren: James (Monta) Felix; Karl (Merlene) Felix; Gordon (JoAnn) Felix and Beth
(Tommy) George: 19 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and two
sisters: Kay Barney, Howard Barney, Terry Barney, Nina Reid and Jean Brown. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West Stake Center at 555 South 600 East in Springville.
There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South and Saturday at
the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the
Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuary.com
