GEORGE W. PATE DIES George W. Pate died at the family home in Delta last Thursday night after an illness of about a months duration of heart trouble and other complications. Mr. Pate had been in poor health during the winter and was laid up for some time with a broken leg and when this last illness came on he was unable to recover. He was 65 years of age having been born in Morgan County, Illinois Sept. 19, 1867. He left home when quite a young fellow and made his way thru the west living for some time in Colorado Springs before he came to this region. He was a resident in Oasis where he farmed successfully for many years before he moved to Delta with his family in 1926 where he has lived since. He is survived by his wife and their five children, two daughters in California, Mrs. Iola Workman and Mrs. Jennie Armstrong and two daughters here, Lois and Jewel and the son Bud. Funeral services were held in the Delta second ward on Sunday afternoon under the direction of Bishop Anthony Stephenson, Bishop Skeem of Oasis was one of the speakers and also Clark Allred of Delta. Mr. Pate was a man of ability and integrity and the speakers expressed the sense of loss that is felt by the community and his friends in his death. He had always taken an active interest in community work and during this past winter had been serving as one of the committee on the RFC work. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. |
