W. Ray Caldwell W. Ray Caldwell, 71, of 823 Campus Way, died April 2 at the Veterans' Hospital in Long Beach, it was learned yesterday. A native of Thorntown, Ind., he was a resident of San Bernardino and California six years. A heart ailment in 1946 forced his retirement after he had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Utah 20 years. He was a veteran of World War I. Caldwell is survived by the widow, Hazel; two sons, Gilbert R., Long Beach, and Robert C., serving with the Navy at Treasure Island, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Beryl Martin, Rialto; a brother Nolan, Kirklan, Ind., and two sisters, Ava B. Caldwell, Kirklin, Ind., and Ada O. Jones, Thorntown, Ind. Funeral services were conducted April 4 at the Veterans Administration Chapel, West Los Angeles, with Mottell & Peek Mortuary, Long Beach, directing. Internment was in Sawtelle Cemetery, West Los Angeles. |
