Notes: The photo below shows Ethel at the top left, circa September 1901 when
she was 8 years old, with her three younger sisters and older brother. In Sepember 1902, Ethel's mother Ella died of typhoid fever in Wallaceburg, Ontario. Ethel was also sick with the disease, but later recovered.
After coming to California in late 1902 when she was age 9, her father, due to his limited means, had her raised by a family named Hotchkiss. The photo at the right shows Ethel in about 1911, probably at her high school graduation. The photo at the left shows Ethel with her baby son Norman in 1913, the year following her marriage to Charles E. Bean. Unfortunately, Ethel became a widow following Charles early death in January 1920. In June 1923 Ethel married Bert Harrison. The photo below right shows Ethel with her new husband at a Hancock family gathering in April 1927 at 2425 Second Street in Napa. Following Ethel's death in 1981, she was cremated and buried in Section M Site 2279 of the Willamette National Cemetery in Oregon with her husband Bert Harrison.
