Notes: Mary Ann McCaw was born 19 Jan 1831 probably in Pine Township, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.
She was the fifth child of Thomas McCaw and Elizabeth Magee. In the 1840 USA census, the family was living in
the Pine Twp, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. In May 1843, she is listed as a baptized
member of the Pine Creek Reformed Presbyterian Church in Hampton Township, just south of Pine Twp. Mary Ann married David P. Williams probably in 1849. This is based on the fact that David's first wife Mary had died in June 1847, and their first son was born about 1850. Mary Ann was about 18 and David was about 33 years old. In the 1850 USA census, Mary Ann, 21, and David, 34, were living in West Deer Twp., Allegheny, Pennsylvania. David was a farmer, whose real estate was valued at $2,000. John Trimble, 13, was enumerated in the household. Mary Ann and David owned land in West Deer Township (later named Richland Township), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, for several decades. When David's brother Joseph and Joseph's wife Mary Ann sold their adjacent 59 acres and 271 perches on 23 Mar 1858, Mary Ann and David, along with three other Williams brothers and their wives, signed the Indenture to Quit Claim their interest in Joseph's land. In the 1860 USA census, Mary Ann, 30, and David P., 43, were still on their farm in West Deer. Their children were James, 10, Thomas, 8, and Harmon, 8, and Lizzie 2. William Jones, 17, a laborer, was enumerated in the household. Their real estate was now valued at $7,000., and personal estate at $1,5000. In the 1870 USA census, Mary A., 40, and David, 54, were farming in what was now called the Richland Twp. Their children were James, 18, Thomas, 14, Harmon, 12, Elizabeth, 12, Theodore, 9, Anna, 7, Margaret, 5, David, 3, and Joseph 3 months. Their real estate was now valued at $14,000., and personal estate at $2,500. In the 1880 USA census, Mary A., 50, and David, 64, were farming in the Richland Twp. Their children at home Lizza J., 21, John T., 18, farm laborer, Anna M., 16, Margaret A., 13, David P., 12, farm laborer, Joseph D., 10, at school, and Gertrude E., 5. David was described as having a Fistula. David P. Williams died 19 Mar 1882. He is buried in the Pine Creek Cemetery, Allison Park, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. In the 1900 USA census, Mary Williams, 69, now a widow, was still living on the farm in the Richland Twp. At that time nine of her eleven children were still living. At home were Lizza J., 42, David P., 32, farming, and Gertrude C., 25. Also in the household were two granddaughters, Maud Williams, 13, and Grace Williams, 7, both attending school. In the 1910 USA census, Mary A. Williams, 79, was living with her son David P., 41, and his wife Anna R., 37, at 351 Lehigh Ave., Pittsburgh Ward 7, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.&bnbsp;David was a house carpenter. Also in the household was her daughter Elizabeth J., 52, and granddaughters Maud M., 23, a real estate bookkeeper, and Angie O., 21., and Grace, both department store seamstresses. Also, her daughter Angelina W. Glunt, 43, and husband Guy L. Glunt, a seminary minister. Finally, Jason D. Stone, 61, a lodger and an evangalist. In the 1920 USA census, Mary Williams, 89, was living at 351 Spahr, Pittsburg Ward 7. She owned the house free of mortgage. Living with her was her daughter Anna Graham, 55, a house keeper, and son-in-law Jno, 58, a machinist for Ford Motor Co. She had two lodgers, Wm. Renshaw, 32, a lather contractor, and Jno Urlan, 32, a painting contractor. Mary Ann Williams died 8 Feb 1920 at her home on Spahr Street, Pittsburg. Cause of death was bronchial pneumonia. She is buried alongside her husband in the Pine Creek Cemetery, Allison Park, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
