Notes:  Mary Stevenson was born about 1759 in Pennsylvania.  She was the fourth of eight children of John Stevenson and Mary Jean McComb.  She married Joseph Nelson, and had two sons, James and John Nelson.  She then married the Rev. John McPherrin, sometime between 1786 and 1790.  They had nine children.

In 1798, the family was living in Derry Twp., Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.  John McPherrin is listed in the U.S. Tax Lists as owning a log dwelling and kitchen, with a stone spring house.  In the 1800 U.S. census, John McPherrin is listed in Derry Twp., Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.

Sometime after 1803, the family moved to Butler County.  A Land Warrant is found for Rev. John McPherrin for 380 acres in Butler on 12 Sep 1806.

In the 1810 U.S. census, J. McPherin is listed in Center, Butler, Pennsylvania. . Only age-ranges were listed, but the household included his wife, Mary; sons John, Samuel, William, Clark, Ebenezer, Josiah, and Anderson; and daughters Amelia Jane and Mary.

In the 1820 U.S. census, John McPherrin, DD, was enumerated in Center, Butler, Pennsylvania.  Only age-ranges were listed, but the household included his wife, Mary; daughter, Mary; and three sons, Ebenezer, Josiah, and Anderson.

Rev. John McPherrin died 10 Feb 1822 in Butler.  Mary McPherrin died in Nov 1823.  She is buried near her husband in the North Side Cemetery, Butler, Butler, Pennsylvania.  Her headstone includes an infant boy, the son of her daughter Mary and husband John Sullivan.
