Notes: John McPherrin and Mary Stevenson were married some time between
1786 and 1790. The first of their nine children was born in 1790. In 1798, the family was living in Derry Twp., Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. John McPherrin is listed in the U.S. Tax Lists as owning a log dwelling and kitchen, with a stone spring house. In the 1800 U.S. census, John McPherrin is listed in Derry Twp., Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. Sometime after 1803, the family moved to Butler County. In 1805, John McPherrin, as a Presbyterian minister, organized the church in Harmony, five miles north of Butler. A Land Warrant is found for Rev. John McPherrin for 380 acres in Butler on 12 Sep 1806. In the 1810 U.S. census, J. McPherin is listed in Center, Butler, Pennsylvania. . Only age-ranges were listed, but the household included his wife, Mary; sons John, Samuel, William, Clark, Ebenezer, Josiah, and Anderson; and daughters Amelia Jane and Mary. In the 1820 U.S. census, John McPherrin, DD, was enumerated in Center, Butler, Pennsylvania. Only age-ranges were listed, but the household included his wife, Mary; daughter, Mary; and three sons, Ebenezer, Josiah, and Anderson. Rev. John McPherrin died 10 Feb 1822 in Butler. His will, dated 24 Dec 1821, was probated on 8 Mar 1822. Mary McPherrin died in Nov 1823. They are buried in the North Side Cemetery, Butler, Butler, Pennsylvania. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
